HC Deb 23 February 1944 vol 397 cc811-2
16. Mr. Bartlett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action the British Government have taken or propose to take on the Report of the Inter-Allied Committee on Post-War Requirements issued in June, 1943.

Mr. Law

This Report was presented to the Council of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration at its first session at Atlantic City by the Chairman of the Inter-Allied Committee on Post-war Requirements and is now under consideration by the Director-General and the appropriate Committees of the Council. Action by His Majesty's Government will depend on their recommendations.

Mr. Bartlett

Will my right hon. Friend do what he can to speed up the operation of U.N.R.R.A.? Is it not a fact that this Report does require urgent decisions on such matters as the financing of supplies and so on; and is it not of the greatest importance that action should be taken as soon as possible?

Mr. Law

Yes, Sir. His Majesty's Government will do everything possible to expedite it.
