HC Deb 23 February 1944 vol 397 cc833-4
67. Mr. Mander

asked the Minister of Information whether his attention has been called to a bulletin issued by a body calling itself the Medical Policy Association; and whether he will take steps to counter this defamatory form of propaganda with its anti-Semitic views and personal attacks.

The Minister of Information (Mr. Brendan Bracken)

Yes, Sir. The complaints in this pamphlet against individuals said to be in control of international finance might have been lifted from a speech by the German Führer, But as the anti-Semitic ravings of the latter have never made any impression on the British people, I think that the Ministry of Information may be forgiven if they regard the bulletin mentioned by my hon. Friend as requiring no counteracting propaganda from them.

Dr. Morgan

Will the Minister also consider the desirability of asking the Home Office once again to see whether the four medical rats using this organisation cannot be prosecuted?

Mr. Bracken

I do not know what the meaning of "four medical rats" is, but I daresay that my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary will read HANSARD tomorrow and will pay proper respect to my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Dr. Howitt

Is the Minister aware that this association in no way represents the medical profession?

Mr. Bracken

I am certain that this association does not represent such an honourable and distinguished profession. I think it is a great pity that some action cannot be taken to prevent these people prostituting the name of a great profession.
