HC Deb 23 February 1944 vol 397 cc812-3
19. Sir Arnold Gridley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any information regarding the intention of the Japanese Government to remove elsewhere one-third of the civil population of Singapore; and particularly, whether both civilian and military prisoners of war are included.

Mr. Law

I regret that I have no information on this subject.

Sir A. Gridley

In view of the great anxiety of those who have sons and other relatives in Japanese hands in Singapore, will my right hon. Friend prosecute inquiries actively in any way open to him?

Mr. Law

Yes, Sir. These inquiries are being prosecuted.
