HC Deb 22 February 1944 vol 397 cc651-2
52. Viscount Hinchinģbrooke

asked the Lord President of the Council whether consideration is now being given to the application of the benefits of wartime scientific research to the re-equipment of the capital goods industries after the war.

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Attlee)

Preliminary consideration has already been given to the possibility of making available the results of Government sponsored war-time scientific research for the benefit of industry after the war. It is proposed that more detailed consideration of this matter will shortly be undertaken. It will be fully considered in the light of the varying circumstances of particular industries, which are themselves generally alive to the post-war value of war-time inventions.

Viscount Hinchinģbrooke

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask whether he would be prepared to go into this important subject in greater detail in the forthcoming Debate on scientific research?

Mr. Attlee

I will bear that in mind.
