Mr. Butcherasked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the fact that numbers of refugees from Nazi oppression were admitted to this country for the purpose of undertaking domestic employment, what steps are taken to see that they are engaged in this work or on work of greater national importance.
§ Mr. BevinThese persons are dealt with by my Department in respect of their employment in the same way as British subjects, so far as this is practicable. Under the Aliens (Employment) Order, 1939, they require my assent to any new employment which they enter. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of a leaflet issued by my Department, which explains the obligations of Allied and foreign nationals in this country.
