§ 3. Major Nieldasked the Secretary of State for War to what extent his Department has found it necessary to guide or advise the editors or staffs of Army newspapers, particularly Eighth Army "News" and "Crusader," and will he assure the House that it is still Government policy to allow the utmost freedom to those responsible for the production of such publications.
Sir J. GriģģLittle editorial guidance or advice has so far been necessary. Various inquiries from editors have been answered and much information exchanged with them about their supplies of home news and other material. The answer to the last part of the Question is "Yes, Sir," so long as this is compatible with the status of an official Army newspaper.
