HC Deb 03 February 1944 vol 396 cc1389-90
28. Mr. Bartle Bull

asked the Minister of Health if, in the interests of fair play, he will enable civilians who suffered loss of limbs in the last war due to enemy action, to obtain artificial limbs in the same way as civilians injured in this war.

Mr. Willink

Civilians who lost limbs in the last war are eligible for the supply of artificial limbs under the present arrangements, particulars of which I will send to my hon. Friend. He will see that the individual or someone on his behalf is asked to make a contribution to the cost, and this provision could not be waived without re-opening the whole question of compensation for injuries sustained by civilians in the last war.

Mr. Bull

Would not civilians injured in this war receive compensation?

Mr. Willink

I would like notice of that Question in order to give a fully accurate reply.

Mr. Bull

It is a very simple one.
