HC Deb 02 February 1944 vol 396 c1266
39. Lord Fermoy

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider increasing the number of supplementary coupons allowed for expectant mothers from 60 to some higher number in the case of a first baby, in view of the considerably greater strain on resources in the case of a first baby than is experienced with additional children.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Waterhouse)

I am glad to say that the coupon rate for babies' napkins has recently been reduced from 12 to 9 per dozen. This should be of great help to mothers with their First baby.
