HC Deb 12 December 1944 vol 406 c1027
32. Commander Locker-Lampson

asked the Secretary of State for War whether Mr. Noel Coward's visits to the fronts are at the cost of the taxpayer.

Sir J. Grigg

Mr. Noel Coward has visited troops in various war theatres in order to entertain the troops. I am not aware of all the detailed arrangements which have been made in the different theatres. In so far as the arrangements have been made by E.N.S.A. it would be in accordance with the normal practice for the cost of sea transport and local Army transport to be borne by E.N.S.A.

Commander Locker-Lampson

Is it too late for this gallant but undecorated representative to go into uniform?
