HC Deb 02 August 1944 vol 402 cc1363-4
17. Flight-Lieutenant Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that by an arrangement with E.N.S.A., camps and Air Force stations, within two miles of a local cinema in a small town or city, are not allowed to show films until they have appeared in such small towns, possibly six months after their first release; and whether he will arrange that each station or camp should be judged on its own merits as to whether the two-miles limit is justified or not.

Sir A. Sinclair

There is an agreement between E.N.S.A. and the trade which provides that recreational films will not be shown within two miles of a public cinema until 12 months after the London release date. Exceptions to this agreement can however be agreed upon where the circumstances of individual units warrant such a course.
