HC Deb 02 August 1944 vol 402 c1373
34. Captain P. Macdonald

asked the Postmaster-General what arrangements have been made to ensure adequate and efficient Empire wireless and cable communications, having regard to the recent technical progress in this connection.

The Postmaster-General (Captain Crookshank)

Empire wireless and cable communications have been expanded during the war, and improved by the application of recent technical developments, to the utmost extent practicable having regard to other calls on material and manpower. The existing capacity is of course largely devoted to traffic directly arising out of the war, and it has naturally not remained unaffected by enemy action.
