31. Mr. Hugh Lawson

asked the Minister of Information if his attention has been drawn to the appeal to the German Army to renounce Hitler and end the war, signed by General Velkers and 15 other German generals now prisoners of war in Russia; and what steps are being taken to make this appeal known to the German armies in France.

Yes, Sir. All the means at our disposal are being used to give publicity to this appeal.

Mr. Dugdale

Have any similar appeals been made by German prisoners of war in this country? If they have been asked to make such appeals, what has been their reply? If they have not been asked, will the Minister indicate that there is some possibility of their being asked at the earliest possible moment?

As German prisoners of war in this country have been broadcasting for a very long time, I am quite surprised that the hon. Gentleman should put that question.
