HC Deb 27 April 1944 vol 399 cc903-4
3. Mr. Keeling

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that some sanatoria for tuberculosis have been partly closed for lack of nursing and domestic staff; and whether he is taking any action.

Mr. Bevin

Yes, Sir. I am aware that in a few instances beds have been closed for this reason. Urgent steps are being taken to improve the situation.

Mr. Keeling

It amounts to more than beds: I think it is a question of wards. Can my right hon. Friend give me any idea when the wards will be reopened?

Mr. Bevin

I cannot pledge myself; it is a question of when I can find all the staff that is necessary.
