HC Deb 27 April 1944 vol 399 c930
45. Major Lyons

asked the Prime Minister whether the question of migration within the Empire will form a subject for discussion at the meeting of Dominion Prime Ministers; and whether, in view of the paramount importance of this matter both from the standpoint of Empire development as well as of national reconstruction, any statement can be made as to the proposals of His Majesty's Government in this connection.

The Deputy prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

Yes, Sir. It is hoped that opportunity will offer at the forthcoming meeting with Dominion Prime Ministers for a general discussion of the question of migration. Pending this discussion, I have nothing to add to statements already made on this subject on behalf of His Majesty's Government.

Major Lyons

When the discussions on this vital topic take place, will the proposals be communicated to the House as soon as possible?

Mr. Attlee

Obviously, the matter of a general discussion will come up for consideration after the Conference.
