47. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of his request to the farmers throughout the country for a greater measure of efficiency, he can now make some statement as to the Government's policy both for the repairs to farm buildings and the erection of new ones at the conclusion of hostilities; And if it is the Government's intention to set up a centralised body for the supply of farm implements and machinery.

Both these matters will be considered in connection with Government policy during the period after the end of hostilities.

Is the Minister aware that that is precisely what is exercising the minds of farmers, who do not know where they stand or where they will stand? Is it not vitally necessary to do something about the matter at the earliest opportunity, in order that further developments may be made from time to time?

Mr. Gallacher

Is it not desirable to get the co-operatives to deal with the matter?
