That it is expedient, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session, to amend the Police and Firemen (War Service) Act, 1939, and in connection therewith, to amend the Fire Services (Emergency Provisions) Act, 1941, to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any increase in the expenses authorised by the said Act of 1941 to be so paid, which is attributable to any extension by the first mentioned Act of the power under the said Act of 1941 (as extended by any Defence Regulations, whenever made) to make regulations for the preservation of the pension rights of persons transferred to or joining the National Fire Service and similar matters, so as to include power to apply, whether or not retrospectively, the provisions of the first mentioned Act (including those provisions as extended by any Defence Regulation made by virtue of that Act), with or without modification, as if the rights and obligations thereby conferred and imposed had been conferred and imposed
before the establishment of the National Fire Service."—(King's Recommendation signified.)—[Mr. Peake.]
