HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 c2129
Mr. Butler

I beg to move, in gage 85, line 34, to leave out "a sum specified in the agreement as the estimated," and to insert "the."

This Amendment has been put down to meet the point which was really desired by the hon. Member for Leigh (Mr. Tinker) who had an Amendment on the Order Paper. Objection was originally taken to the wording of Paragraph (5) on the ground that the actual cost of executing a proposal might vary in one way or another from the estimated cost. We know sometimes, when we have obtained estimates from builders, that the final result is slightly different, and this Amendment has been put in to cover that position.
