HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 cc2003-4
52 and 53 Colonel Greenwell

asked the Minister of Food (1) whether he has considered a petition dated 24th January, 1944, and signed by the chairman of the Hartlepool Borough and 10 other food control committees, drawing attention to the unfair manner in which the Rabbits and Poultry (Maximum Prices) Orders operate in their respective areas and calling for immediate consideration to be given to the anomalous position with regard thereto; and what action he proposes to take with regard to this;

(2) whether he is aware that the price of rabbits and poultry to residents in that part of the Parliamentary division of the Hartlepools, comprised in the county borough of West Hartlepool, is 2d. per lb. more than it is to residents in that part of the division comprised in the municipal borough of Hartlepool, with the result that the latter are unable to obtain any of these commodities; and what action he proposes to take to remove such anomaly.

The Minister of Food (Colonel Llewellin)

I am having this whole matter reviewed and hope shortly to be able to announce alterations.
