HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 c1978
5. Mr. Vernon Bartlett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether military supplies are still going through to the E.L.A.S. resistance movement in Greece; what are the proportionate strengths of E.L.A.S. and E.D.E.S.; and what steps are now being taken to associate the National Liberation Front, of which E.L.A.S. is the military expression, with the Greek Government in Cairo.

Mr. Eden

Military supplies are being sent to the E.L.A.S. forces in Greece. As regards the second part of the Question, I have no very recent information, but the relative strength of E.L.A.S. and E.D.E.S. is probably about three to one. The question of associating the National Liberation Front with the Greek Government in Cairo is now, I understand, under negotiation, but hon. Friends will understand that I am not able to make any statement on this matter in view of the changes which are taking place in the Greek Government.
