HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 c1989
24. Mr. G. Strauss

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is taking any steps to send out to East Africa British trade unionists to 'help to organise the native labour.

Colonel Stanley

I regret that I am not at present in a position to add to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member's Question on this subject on 15th March.

Mr. Strauss

The right hon. and gallant Gentleman did not reply to my specific point—whether he had taken any initiative in this matter, as the Colonial Office have done in the past?

Colonel Stanley

I am in communication with the Governor.
