HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 c2002
47. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction among troops who have had long service abroad owing to the fact that R.A.F. personnel are returned home after much shorter periods of service; and whether, in order to allay this dissatisfaction, he will make a statement explaining the reason for such differentiation.

Mr. Attlee

I am sending copies to my hon. Friend of what has already been said on this subject in reply to previous questions.

Mr. Dugdale

While fully appreciating the shortage of transport, may I ask the right hon. Gentleman if he is aware that it might be possible to arrange for a quota of seats in planes returning to this country, to be occupied by soldiers, and not entirely by R.A.F. personnel?

Mr. Attlee

We are making every effort in that way, but if my hon. Friend has any specific suggestion to make, I shall be happy to consider it.
