HC Deb 05 April 1944 vol 398 cc1982-3
48. Sir O. Simmonds

asked the Prime Minister what decision has been taken by the Government to remove the control of civil aviation from the Air Ministry.

The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

There is no question of removing civil aviation from the care of the Air Ministry during the war.

Sir O. Simmonds

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in the Debate on the Report stage of the Air Estimates, with the exception of the Ministers of the Departments, the House was unanimous that this step should be taken? Will he see that the Government give it further and early consideration?

Mr. Gallacher

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the people of this country want civil aviation under the control of the Government, and not under the control of a gang of robbers?
