HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c376
81. Mr. Hewlett

asked the Minister of Health whether he has any information as to new methods of treating shell shock now being tried by the medical profession?

Mr. E. Brown

All the modern methods of treatment are used at the special neurosis centres set up under the Emergency Hospital Scheme. These centres are kept abreast of the latest developments of medical knowledge on the subject through my consultant advisers on neurology and psychiatry and in other ways. If my hon. Friend has in mind any particular method of treatment, perhaps he will communicate with me.

Rear-Admiral Beamish

Is it not a fact that Lord Horder's Committee stated clearly that the term "shell shock" is an entire misnomer?
