HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c361
13. Mr. Lawson

asked the Minister of Labour the number of men and women transferred to other parts of the country from the North of England and from Scotland and Wales, respectively, since the beginning of the war?

Mr. Bevin

The numbers of women of registration age who were transferred to other parts of the country between 16th May, 1942, and 17th August, 1943, from Employment Exchanges in the Northern Region, Scotland and Wales respectively were 5,494, 3,652 and 1,950. These figures do not include women called up to the Women's Auxiliary Services. Information is not available as to the number of men who have been transferred nor is it available in respect of women prior to the date I have named.

Sir Henry Morris-Jones

Can the Minister supply the House with the separate figures for Wales?

Mr. Bevin

I will pick out the Welsh ones and let the hon. Member know.
