HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 cc365-6
26. Major Nield

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has issued a notification to employers recommending that they should allow leave of absence to those employed by them who are members of the Army Cadets or similar organisations to attend camp; and, if not, whether he will consider issuing such a notification?

Mr. Bevin

No, Sir, but I understand that the Inter-Services Cadet Committee recently issued a circular after consultation with the National Production Advisory Council of the Ministry of Production, in which, while the needs of production are recognised, employers of young persons are asked to do all in their power to enable them to attend camp. I do not think any action on my part is called for.

Major Nield

Does my right hon. Friend agree with such recommendations?

Mr. Bevin

Certainly.
