HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c176
8. Mr. Graham White

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what extent the International Labour Office is co-operating with the Governments of the United Nations in the formation of plans for post-war reconstruction?

Mr. Eden

Following upon the first resolution adopted by the International Labour Office Conference held in the United States of America in 1941, arrangements have been made to maintain contact between the International Labour Office and existing agencies of the United Nations dealing with post-war problems. So far as His Majesty's Government are concerned, they have kept in touch with the International Labour Office on post-war reconstruction problems, and these matters were discussed with the acting Director of the International Labour Office during his recent visit to this country. I understand that during this visit the acting Director was also in touch with the Governments of other member States on these matters.

Mr. White

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether he had any hand in the preparation for the Conference at Hot Springs?

Mr. Eden

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put that question down. I am not quite sure.
