HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 cc205-6
55. Mr. Turton

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government have agreed to draw up periodic reports on the steps taken to implement the recommendations of the Hot Springs Conference with reference to long-term production policy; and when a report will be submitted to the Interim Commission?

The Prime Minister

The proposal of the Hot Springs Conference was that each nation should consider the possibility of drawing up periodic reports for submission—not to the Interim Commission which is at present formulating a specific plan for the permanent body, but to the suggested permanent organisation in the field of food and agriculture which is not yet in being.

Mr. Turton

Is my right hon. Friend aware that there is widespread anxiety in the country over this matter and the delay in announcing the long-term policy for encouraging production?

The Prime Minister

We have a lot of anxieties, and one cancels out another very often.
