HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c174
6. Mr. William Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make any statement on the appointment of a Russian representative, or representatives, to North Africa; and what has been the attitude of His Majesty's Government on this matter?

Mr. Eden

The Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics informed the French Committee of National Liberation on 26th August that it had decided to recognise the Committee and to exchange plenipotentiary representatives with it. I need hardly add that His Majesty's Government welcome this development.
