§ 85. Mrs. Hardieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the stocks of -whisky which were stored in Glasgow have been removed?
§ Mr. WestwoodUnder the general arrangements for dispersal, whisky stocks in the area referred to were long ago reduced to a level at which in the view of the Regional Commissioner (who is charged with the duty of operating the scheme) the danger to the lives of people in the surrounding houses has been removed. It is not in the public interest to give detailed information in public regarding the extent to which stocks have been reduced in particular areas, but my right hon. Friend would be glad to discuss the matter with my hon. Friend.
§ Mrs. HardieIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that the bonded stores are situated near tenement buildings and that, in the event of fire or bombing, it might cause loss of life, and therefore it is of the greatest importance that these stocks should be taken away from there and should be dumped into the Clyde, if he cannot find any other place?
Lieut. -Commander Gurney BraithwaiteCannot these stocks be removed to a safer area in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
§ Mr. McGovernGive them to the temperance societies.
