HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 cc12-3
32. Sir Leonard Lyle

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the award of their own Service flags to the National Fire Service and the Civil Defence services; and whether, under these circumstances, he will reconsider the official decision not to grant a Service flag to the Home Guard?

Sir J. Grigg

No colours or flags have been authorised for the British Army or carried by the British Army since the outbreak of war. My hon. Friend will appreciate that the Home Guard must follow the general Army policy in these matters rather than the practice of the civil organisations referred to in the Question.
