§ Mr. ButlerAs far as expenditure on education coming within the purview of my Department is concerned, the total expenditure from public funds in England and Wales for the year 1940–41 was £98,709,000. Of this sum £52,156,000 was met from taxes and £46,553,000 from rates.
§ Mr. LipsonCan my right hon. Friend explain why the figure for the last year is £98,000,000, while the figure given in the White Paper is £123,000,000?
