HC Deb 21 October 1943 vol 392 c1516
63. Mr. Mander

asked the Minister of Health the position with regard to the application of the South Staffordshire Joint Hospital Board for permission to erect a temporary building at Moxley for recreational and educational purposes; and whether approval can now be given?

Mr. E. Brown

The proposal to which my hon. Friend refers was very fully considered a few months ago, and while I have every sympathy with the Board's wish to provide improved staff facilities at the infectious diseases hospital in question, I was not able to authorise this project for the time being because of the demand it would involve on labour and materials needed to meet more pressing requirements in the prosecution of the war. The matter will, however, be kept under review.

Mr. Mander

Cannot my right hon. Friend go further than that? In keeping it under review cannot he hold out the hope that a decision will be arrived at in the near future in view of the urgent need?

Mr. Brown

I cannot do that in the absence of any additional information, but if the hon. Member has anything further I shall be glad to receive it.

Mr. Mander

Would my right hon. Friend be willing to receive a deputation on the subject?

Mr. Brown

Perhaps my hon. Friend will consult with me.
