HC Deb 21 October 1943 vol 392 c1498
28. Major Petherick

asked the Home Secretary whether the police took the names of any of the persons engaged in the recent second front demonstration at the corner of Downing Street?

Mr. H. Morrison

Yes, Sir. A deputation of four persons wished to present resolutions at No. 10, and their names were taken before they were allowed to pass the barrier at the end of Downing Street.

Mr. Shinwell

Will the right hon. Gentleman also take the names of those members of the Government who frequently told us that the second front would take place before now?

Sir H. Williams

Can the Home Secretary say whether their registration cards were examined in the same way as they are at football matches?

Mr. Morrison

I cannot say without notice.
