HC Deb 20 October 1943 vol 392 c1353
1. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make it a condition of the armistice terms with Germany that the principal known war criminals should be at once handed over?

The Minister of State (Mr. Richard Law)

It is the intention of His Majesty's Government that adequate provisions of this nature shall be included in the armistice terms with Germany.

Mr. Rhys Davies

Is the Minister aware that a large number of people are very cynical about this proposal to punish war criminals, when they remember the stunt about hanging the Kaiser during the last war?

Mr. Law

I hope that we shall be able to avoid mistakes made last time.

Mr. Shinwell

Are these criminals to receive the same punishment as Badoglio?

Mr. Sorensen

Will this include accessories before the fact, some of whom live in this country?

Mr. Law

These matters are at present being discussed between the Governments of the United Nations. I do not think I can enter into them now.

Commander Locker-Lampson

What has happened to the castor oil king of Italy?
