GriģģRequests for compassionate postings are carefully investigated, and if, having regard to the man's medical category, rank and trade, there is a suitable unit near the man's home, such a posting is carried out. When a compassionate posting is not possible a period of compassionate release is often granted if the circumstances of the case justify it.
