Lieut.-Commander Tufnellasked the Secretary of State for War whether the prisoners of war recently repatriated from enemy territory who are in hospital convalescing are receiving ordinary civilian rations; and, in view of the fact that these men have been under-nourished in enemy prison camps, whether he will arrange for them to receive increased rations in order that they may be restored to health as speedily as possible?
§ Sir J. GriggRepatriated prisoners who are being treated in military hospitals and military convalescent depots are receiving the full scale of military rations. Those who have been transferred to hospitals of the E.M.S. so that they may be as near as possible to their homes, are at present receiving the civilian scale of rations. My hon. and gallant Friend will appreciate that there are real difficulties in differentiating between civilian and Service patients undergoing treatment in the same hospital, perhaps in the same ward, but I am looking into this now.
