HC Deb 03 November 1943 vol 393 cc667-8
67. Mr. McEntee

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he is aware that many local authorities in the more congested areas in Greater London are determining to reduce this congestion by refusing to issue licences to rebuild houses on some of the bombed sites after the war, thus creating a need for building dwelling-houses beyond the green belt; and what he is doing to provide adequate and fast transport services for such workers at a reasonable cost?

Mr. Noel-Baker

My hon. Friend may be assured that before schemes are adopted for rehousing in the Outer London area, the population of congested areas in London, there will be consultation between the housing and transport authorities about the provision of the necessary transport.
