HC Deb 25 March 1943 vol 387 c1774
78. Sir John Jarvis

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number of men of military age being employed by the War Damage Commission in war-time posts; and whether it will be possible to use the part-time services of older men to do the work?

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. Assheton)

I am informed by the War Damage Commission that 83 non-professional and 149 professional and technical men under the age of 43 are employed full time by the Commission. None of these men is under the age of 30, other than those medically unfit or awaiting call-up. Consistently with the needs of the work use is made of the part-time services of men over military age, and over 200 such men are at present employed.
