§ 24. Wing-Commander Hulbertasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he is aware that signposts are being replaced in such a manner as to make them invisible to motor-cars with dimmed lights; and whether he will issue instructions to local authorities on this matter?
§ Mr. Noel-BakerI am informed that, as a general rule, road signs are being replaced in the positions and on the posts which they occupied when they were taken down. Before the signposts were removed, highway authorities had already been advised to lower signs in rural areas so that they fell within the beam of light from a masked headlamp, wherever this was practicable. I will remind the highway authorities of this advice, and I am grateful to my hon. and gallant Friend for calling attention to the matter.
