HC Deb 22 June 1943 vol 390 c1113

Order read for consideration of Special Report of Committee on Public Petitions.

Sir Edward Campbell (Bromley)

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Committee in that part of their Report wherein they express their opinion, That signatures on the back of the petition sheet and sheets attached thereto should be counted whether or not the prayer is repeated at the top of the page. This recommendation and the one which follows were put forward in the interests of economy, which is some justification for me to commend them to the House.

Mr. Rostron Duckworth (Manchester, Moss Side)

I beg to second the Motion.

Question put, and agreed to.

Sir E. Campbell

I beg to move, That it be an Instruction to the Committee on Public Petitions, That in setting forth the number of signatures to each Petition they do include signatures written on the back of the Petition or of the sheets attached thereto.

Mr. Sutcliffe (Royton)

I beg to second the Motion.

Question put, and agreed to.

The remaining Orders were read, and Postponed.
