HC Deb 09 June 1943 vol 390 c682
12. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Air, what complaints have been received from Royal Air Force units as to the deficiency of magazines and other reading matter provided for them; and what action he proposes to take?

Sir A. Sinclair

A few general com-plaints of the shortage of recreational literature have been made. This shortage is due to war-time restrictions, but such steps are being taken to improve the position as the limitations of paper supply will allow.

Sir T. Moore

What are these steps? I got the same answer from the Secretary of State for War, that the position would be rectified. What steps has the right hon. Baronet taken to rectify the position?

Sir A. Sinclair

A number of steps are being taken, with the help of the War Office. There is no big single measure that can be taken, but in a number of ways we are trying to increase the supply of this recreational literature. The scheme is administered by the War Office. They have been most generous to us and have given us a full share of the available literature.
