HC Deb 29 July 1943 vol 391 cc1790-1
100. Mr. Astor

asked the Minister of Information when he hopes to publish a booklet on the British Administration of Eritrea and Somaliland; and whether he will ensure that this booklet should be produced at the earliest possible moment?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information (Mr. Thurtle)

This booklet is now being written, while the author travels in Eritrea and Somaliland. Until the text is received it is not possible to forecast the publication date, but I can assure my hon. Friend that there will be no avoidable delay and that we are as anxious to see the book in print as he is.

Mr. Astor

In view of the fact that the officials of A.M.G.O.T. are largely drawn from the officials who have been running these other Colonies successfully, does not the hon. Gentleman realise the great propaganda value of getting this booklet out as soon as possible?

Mr. Thurtle

If my hon. Friend wants an assurance that the book will be got out as quickly as possible, I can give him that assurance.
