HC Deb 28 July 1943 vol 391 cc1566-7
39. Sir G. Gibson

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the fact that the Women's Royal Naval Service are not members of the Armed Forces of the Crown, that their loyalty and efficiency are equally high and services as essential to the conduct of the war as their sister services, the Auxiliary Territorial Service and Women's Auxiliary Air Force, which are so counted, decorations, medals and other rewards for efficiency, conduct, service and bravery, will be equally avail able to both during and after the war to members of the Women's Royal Naval Service as to the Armed Forces of the Crown?

Mr. Alexander

In the matter of decorations and medals, it is the intention that the treatment of the Women's Royal Naval Service shall not differ from that given to the two other Women's Auxiliary Services.
