HC Deb 28 July 1943 vol 391 cc1553-4
15. Mr. Ivor Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now able to announce recognition of the French Committee of National Liberation as the trustee of all French interests?

Mr. Eden

I have at the moment nothing to add to my statement in the House on Wednesday last in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for East Aberdeen (Mr. Boothby).

Mr. Thomas

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that recognition has now been given by all the Governments of the occupied territories, and can he explain this delay in recognition by the United Kingdom?

Mr. Eden

I told the hon. Member last week that we were in consultation with other Allied Governments on the subject. I pointed out then what is still my view, that it is desirable that the great Powers should act together in this matter.
