asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the British Government were informed in advance of the intention of the Soviet Government to establish a Free German Committee; and whether the British Government propose to recognise a similar or an identical committee?

11. Mr. Astor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Free German Committee, formed in Moscow, has been established with the knowledge of, and under the auspices of, His Majesty's Government and the United Nations?

Mr. Eden

His Majesty's Government were not informed in advance of the establishment of this Committee. They do not propose to recognise any similar Committee in this country.
