HC Deb 28 July 1943 vol 391 cc1570-1
52. Captain Gammans

asked the Minister without Portfolio whether, in view of the fact that the principle of children's allowances has been accepted by the Government, he can gave an approximate date when the necessary legislation will be submitted to Parliament?

Sir W. Jowitt

Considerable progress has been made in working out the details of the scheme of children's allowances and, though some details remain to be settled, I am now in a position to arrange for the preparation of draft clauses in a form which, subject to further examina- tion, would be available for incorporation in a Bill. I cannot at present give any indication of the date at which the necessary legislation will be introduced.
