§ Mr. EdenNo weighted index of the cost of living in French North Africa exists. I am informed, however, that prices of a considerable quantity of supplies imported by the Allies since last November have been maintained at pre-November levels, and rents have been stabilised since April 5th. On the other hand the prices of certain locally produced commodities have increased. In Tunisia the cost of living, which advanced very greatly under German occupation, has fallen since the liberation.
