67. Mr. De la Bèreasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, with a view to effecting economies in man-power, he will direct the attention of the special committee set up to deal with this to the large publicity staffs of many Government Departments, especially where this work overlaps similar work done by another Department?
§ Mr. AsshetonThe general position with regard to the staff engaged in the conduct of Government publicity was dealt with in the reply of my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 6th August last. The Government will not overlook this service in its efforts to secure economies in man-power.
Mr. De la BèreWill the Government bear in mind that there is overlapping on a large scale and that the services of many of these people are no longer required?
