HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 cc294-5
50. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is conferring with the appropriate Minister or Ministry, in connection with the planning and building of cottages for farm-workers, in view of the fact, that since the war began there has been a big increase in food production but no corresponding increase in housing accommodation for those who labour on the soil?

Mr. Hudson

I am already conferring with the other Ministers concerned as to the practicability of building more cottages for farm workers at an early date, but I am not yet in a position to make any announcement.

Mr. De la Bère

Does my right hon. Friend realise the vital urgency of getting these houses built at the earliest possible moment?

Mr. Hudson

Yes, Sir, that is why I am conferring with my colleagues.
