HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 c277
29. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for India, whether he will give particulars of the trial for murder and rioting in which 11 persons were sentenced to death and 13 others to transportation for life; whether others were also tried; and whether the accused were the only persons engaged in this crime or whether they formed part of a larger gathering?

Mr. Amery

I have no knowledge of the case, but have written to the Government of India for the desired information and will communicate with the hon. Member on its receipt.

Mr. Sorensen

I suppose the right hon. Gentleman cannot give any indication of when that reply is likely to be received by him?

Mr. Amery

Letters take between two and three weeks to get out.
